We are interested in poetry about the American delta
region and the South generally—with the exception of the
annual October issue, which will be non-themed.
Submissions
are accepted year-round.
We accept submissions year-round and publish selected
work in three issues per year: February, June, and
October. The theme for the February and June issues will
be about the Delta region and the South in general. All
poems must reflect the theme in topic, place, culture,
idiomatic expressions, regional dialect. The annual
October issue will be non-themed: we welcome poems on
all topics that meet the general guidelines for
submissions.
We prefer poetry that has both mainstream and literary
appeal.
All work must be original, previously unpublished, and
in English.
Poetry should be formatted conventionally, without
inline gaps or other structural elements that can't be
detected by an audience during a public reading.
We do not publish poetry containing racist, sexist,
misogynist, or explicit language or
anything of a violent or erotic nature.
We assume that all submissions are simultaneous. Please
let us know if your work has been accepted elsewhere as
quickly as possible.
There is no submission fee. We are not a paying
market.
Please wait until you have heard back from one
submission before sending another.
Delta Poetry Review accepts work for nonexclusive
appearance and archiving on its website. Authors retain
all rights at all times.
